Good Hope Preschool

Plans have changed AGAIN! I got a call YESTERDAY from Good Hope Preschool letting me know they had room for BOTH Kate and Max in their W/F 2-year old class - Hooray! I have been hoping for this call all summer. We had the kids in another wonderful preschool which I loved and had packed their bookbags for; however, this school is about 15-20 minutes closer and two of my neighbors send their kids there so we are just super thrilled this all worked out.

Last night Peter went to parent orientation. Today, Peter and Mimi took the kids to open house where they got to meet Ms. Sandra and Ms. Carla, explore their classroom, and play on the playground while eating popsicles. They were so excited and exhausted when they got home.

Gamma Mary to the Rescue!

I can not thank my mom (aka Gamma Mary), Dad, Abigail, and Rocky (dog) enough for all they did to keep things running smoothly last week while I enjoyed an extended stay at Duke! :) Fortunately, the four of them were in Wilmington, NC for the weekend looking at houses when they got the call and four hours later they were at our house. Papa D had to return to New York last Monday for work but Gamma Mary, Abigail, and Rocky spent the week+ playing, going on adventures, visiting me at the hospital, and keeping up with all the housework. A few highlights from the week:

28 Weeks - Each Day a Blessing!

We have a little wiggler for sure. We had another detailed anatomy scan and the baby showed off all her best moves. She started breech, went to transverse, and by the end was upside down kicking my ribs! She has a ton of hair, weighs approximately 2 pounds 2oz., can open/close her eyelids, gets the hiccups daily (i.e practice breathing), knows how to drink, likes to cover her face with her hands and plays with the umbilical cord. A super cute busy bee!

I have a complete placenta previa which means my placenta decided to settle smack-dab on top of the cervix. It sounds like we will be delivering this baby a little early to avoid serious complications. I guess I am not meant to see the last month of pregnancy, but I hear I am not missing anything!

Pray for an uneventful last two months before our sweet baby girl makes her appearance!

Chapel Hill

Peter had the superb idea of enjoying an afternoon in Chapel Hill this weekend. It was move-in weekend so the campus was full of people, activity, and dogs! The kids ran around campus, saw the Old Well, walked up and down Franklin Street, and we had dinner outside at an old favorite - Vespa! The kids had a 3-course meal 1.)Fruit 2.)Noodles 3.)Gelato! It was such a fabulous afternoon for all of us.

Nastics

Kate has become interested in "nastics" recently. The kids and I have been exploring the different locations around town - Little Gym, Superior Gymnastics, and Team Attractions Gymnastics. Kate works so hard to do exactly what the teacher tells her. Max is a "free spirit" in the gym and seems to love all the climbing, jumping, and falling!

Baby's Room

The baby's room is almost done - just waiting on a few finishing touches from Mimi (aka Mary Ellen). She is making the valences and name quilt which will go above the changing table.

Pool Slide

I am not sure who loves the slide more - the kids or Daddy?

2 1/2 Year Photo Shoot

I took the kids to a nearby lake where they like to watch the geese in hopes of getting a few pictures of my little 2 1/2 year olds. Fortunately for me, the geese were very active, there was a a baby goose named Speedy the Mud Duck, two little boys were fishing and they kept showing the kids the fish they would catch before throwing them back and there was a breeze!
