Finn - 13 Weeks

Kids Note: We love playing games and running around the backyard with Finn off the leash!

TIMBER!

Our neighbor, Ron, is sweet as can be with the kids.  He has been working all week on taking down several trees in his backyard. Friday was the day, the he planned on actually pulling the trees down, so he came home early from work and was ready for the kids when they got off the bus.  He had all the kids (plus two extra that usually hang out at our house on Friday afternoons) in his backyard pulling down the trees, screaming TIMBER and jumping on the trampoline (Finn and I watched from our yard).  Pretty good Friday afternoon if you ask me!

Kate's Turn

Kate finally got her Date with Daddy this weekend!  Kate was so excited!  She had a vision for her hair, picked out her dress, organized her purse, put on lip gloss and was ready to go a half an hour early! The Carolina Inn was as beautiful and charming as ever and Kate was over the moon when she returned!

Bowling Bonanza

Max suggested bowling randomly one day (an activity that I forget exists) and we ALWAYS have a blast!

Safety First

It is nice to know people in good places! 

Ice

Since our ground is SO VERY saturated, a very interesting thing occurred in our backyard called Needle Ice. Needle ice is a phenomenon that occurs when the temperature of the soil is above 0 °C (32 °F) and the surface temperature of the air is below 0 °C (32 °F).

Weekend Fun

Oh, we love a three day weekend!  Peter and I got a date night at Vivace thanks to my parents. We had a trainer come work with our family and Finn! Friends spent the afternoon playing. Mimi came for Sunday dinner. We saw the total lunar eclipse (blood moon). We took Finn to the vet! Anna and I had girl time. Peter had helpers organize his office! There was lots of time to play with Finn and each other inside and out!

 

Finn - 12 weeks

20lbs - sleeps through the night in crate- started with trainer - can run free in the backyard (no leash) - working on walking technique

Kids says - they love playing training games like “find it!” And “Come”.

Mimi + Justice

Mimi and Anna has a birthday date at Justice (girl store)! Let’s just say those two had a BLAST!

Finn - 11 Weeks

We have a good schedule going, mastered "COME", working on "DOWN", favorite toy - water bottle, favorite treat - chicken, and LOVES being outside except when it rains.
I started asking the kids to tell me one thing that sticks out to them about Finn each week...
Max said, I want to remember how much he LOVES seeing me when I get home from school.

Hurricane Hockey

Alex's xmas gift from us each year are tickets to a Hurricane Hockey game!  OMG, he was so excited, beyond excited, counting down and making sure he had his sweatshirt ready to go excited! He Cheered - He Ate - He LOVED the fights!

UNC Basketball

Max's xmas gift from us each year are tickets to a UNC basketball game!

Science Fair

This year the kids were given the option to do a science fair project with/without a friend.  Kate and Max opted in as PARTNERS (win for Mom)! Their project had to do with Type 1 Diabetes using their little sister as a subject (Ha)!  I was thrilled that they finished and felt that they really worked hard and well together - mission accomplished!  

They came home yesterday to tell me they made it to the Top 10 (out of 73 projects entered). 😱 Final results were revealed this morning in an assembly with all their peers following brief explanations by each finalist....😭

A New Day...A New Pump

After four years with our Animas One-Touch insulin pump, we have moved on!  It is was a hard decision (it took us a year to decide) with lots of support and input from various sources, we finally made the leap, got trained and started using the Tandem t-slim insulin pump.  It is pretty awesome with integrated Dexcom technology, shutting off when Anna goes low,🙌, touch screen (fancy), smaller and smarter - all sorts of bells and whistles! Anna already noticed it takes less time at school. 💃💃💃

Popper Fun

The kids spent hours chasing, strategizing, and shooting these poppers all over the place. 

Finn - 10 weeks

No potty accidents, first tubby, crate trained, “sit” command mastered!

Daddy Daughter Date

Every Christmas we give each kid a special day with Daddio. Anna looks forward to her date with Daddy at The Umstead for afternoon Tea!
