Memorial Day Shindig

We hosted a little backyard gathering for Memorial Day. It was a wonderful group of people including friends, colleagues, neighbors, and all their kids! It was super hot and the adults were sweltering (sorry) but the kids seemed to have a blast!

Rite of Passage

I know this is silly but yesterday I was able to get Kate's hair in pigtails for the first time. It made me so happy that I had to show my neighbor, who has three girls of her own, hoping she could appreciate my excitement. She totally understood and recognized that putting your little girl's hair in pigtails for the first time is a rite of passage for any mother!

Soccer season has ended

Lil' Kickers is done for now. Both kids had good and bad days but overall I think they learned a lot. In particular both learned to follow directions better, follow along and create make believe scenarios, jump, stretch, run, wait their turn, listen to Coach Katie(who they adore) and kick a ball! I think we will do it again but for now we are gearing up for the pool season!

Spring Fling

Our neighborhood hosted a little gathering this past weekend. There was a DJ, keg, juice boxes, and games for the kids. Families brought their own picnics. The kids had a blast running around.

Max was obsessed with a basketball one of the older boys gave him. He watched them play ball forever and tried his hardest to make shots of his own.

Kate was infatuated with all the girls. She followed them around, tried to jump rope, tossed water balloons, and even joined in on the limbo contest - party girl!

Max's Joke

At lunch yesterday...

Max: Knock, Knock Mommy
Me: Who's there?
Max: Go-Go
Me: Go-Go Who?
Max: Go-Go Outside!

From May 2011

Oh My...

The other day I went in to the kids' room during nap time to see what all the hooping and hollering was about. Max was sound asleep and Kate was running, jumping, and squealing in her bed.

Me: Kate why are you not sleeping?
Kate: I busy Mommy!

Baby K - 14 Weeks

We are at 14 weeks today, he/she is already the size of a lemon! My nausea and headaches are subsiding and my appetite is increasing. I am definitely "popping" out which is fun and means the baby must be growing! I am pretty certain that I felt the baby wiggle/flutter a little today which makes the process that much more exciting.

What the kids are saying:
Both will tell you "Baby tummy mommy." They greet the baby in the morning with a sweet "morning baby" and kiss my tummy. We worked on special onsies for the baby to wear one day. Kate picked out a "Tweet Tweet" (bird) and Max chose a Turtle.

Kate is convinced it is a "baby girl" and she is a "good girl". She likes to check under my shirt to see the baby and lets me know the baby is doing good and sleeping. She occasionally tells us she has a baby in her tummy...a little confused.

Max is a little more concerned about his mommy(love it). He says, "Mommy doctor. Mommy OK." When we ask whether he thinks it is a baby girl or baby boy his response is "Yes!" - a true diplomat!

I love being pregnant and all the little milestones. It is very special to see this pregnancy through the eyes of Max and Kate.

Golf

I could not resist these golf clubs in the dollar spot at Target. The kids are obsessed with them and even cart them around in their cars like they are off to play golf.

We celebrated Emma's birthday in Greensboro this weekend. Liz and Bill made the day special with a Mickey Mouse theme everywhere, lots of great food, and a super cute cake!
