Operation Rolling Stones

The kids had a blast planning this mission for Mimi.  We decorated rocks, hid them around her neighborhood and texted her a map to follow.  As always, Mimi was a good sport!

Remote Learning - Week 6

The second week of Remote Learning was even more successful than the first!  I think the kids and I felt a little more confident going into it and had clear expectations of what we needed to do.

The kids have the autonomy to follow the schedule as the teachers lay it out at the beginning of the week or do the lessons in the order they choose knowing the due dates are the same. They all chose to work on things in their own order and they loved having that choice.

Alex's schedule differs slightly in that he has a regular ZOOM class meeting daily at 9am and two 1-on-1 with his teachers on Tuesday and Thursday.  His assignments are not outlined for the week, but rather posted on Seesaw as the week progresses and I supplement with various activities sprinkled throughout.

I love that the week is made up of online work, paper & pencil, adventures and creative activities sprinkled throughout - the diversity keeps them very engaged and meets the needs of all the different learning styles in our house!

Peter and I have been married for 17 years!
I feel so fortunate to be doing LIFE together with the man that is my best friend, husband and father to our four sweet children for more than half my life.  We balance each other out - challenging each other to be our best selves and celebrating the memorable moments that come our way.
Thank you for the unconditional love that fills my heart with so much joy!

Remote Learning - Week 5

This was our first week of "Remote Learning" as assigned by our teachers at Mills Park Elementary.  While I am not sure what is state/district/school mandates - this week was beautifully planned, executed and facilitated from our perspective.  I had a spreadsheet to keep all the Zoom/Google Meet/1-on-1/office hours/ assignments straight for each kid.  The kids completed a weekly planner with all their assignments, so we could easily see their progress and make adjustments to the schedule as needed. The grade levels planned together and had a nice balance of pre-recorded video instruction balanced with activities either on Seesaw (pre-K and 2nd Grade) or Google Classrooms (5th grade).  All work was turned in on their corresponding platform, feedback was given promptly, plenty of time was offered to check in with teachers each day with any clarification needed. The LIVE ZOOM/Google Classroom activities were lively and engaging.

The entire week, we were getting updates as little things needed to be changed or tweaked or clarified. The ongoing effort by the teachers to reflect, respond and make adjustments was incredible. I could not have asked for a better first week of remote learning!
