Happy Halloween 2012

We started our Halloween night by having dinner (in costume) on our front porch and watched kids emerge from their homes in costume. We spontaneously decided to join two other families and it was so much fun! The kids all know each other from the neighborhood and they all just ran and screamed and giggled together the entire time. Kate and Max absolutely loved Halloween - dressing up, getting candy, giving candy, ringing doorbells, screaming "trick-or-treat" and "thank you, happy halloween" at every house. They got the hugest kick out of handing out candy later, Kate was in charge of the basket and Max was in charge of enforcing the rules "take one thing only!". Anna was all smiles, loved her costume, sang songs, and carried Max's snorkel for half then night.

Our Little Love

Sitting Up
Anna can sit up on her own!  Hooray, two days before her birthday she just popped up and claps for herself every time she does it.  She is proficient at getting in and out of sitting with out any assistance.

Pulling Up
The week before her birthday she decided to start pulling herself up on steps.  Her motivation is always getting closer to Kate or Max.  She wants to be involved with everything they are doing, even if it is just watching.

Standing Up
Anna likes standing at her toy chest or activity table and play with things.  She figured out the day after her birthday how to pull up to standing! She does not have a good way of getting down so she just lets go...

Curious
She wants us to name everything.  She point and says "This?" or "That?". We can not leave the bonus room without naming everything on the walls. :)

Copy Cat
Kate goes around the house pretending to be singing like Ariel.  When Anna hears her, she sings too! Anna is going to be an Owl for Halloween so she repeats after us "Who Who!" If we clap or we say "Yay" Anna will clap too.

Lovey
She currently has two little friends that she absolutely loves cuddling - Baby Bear and Winnie the Pooh (gift from G. Mary & Papa D).  She sleeps with both of them (they are small) either curled around them or on top of them. I think she is trying to keep them safe from Kate!

Birthday Girl!

We celebrated Anna's birthday with a magnificent fall themed birthday outside with our friends, family, and neighbors. We ate, did crafts, decorated pumpkins, sang happy birthday, and played! We totally lucked out with the weather which was a HUGE question mark all week. I think, secretly, I have always wanted to have a fall party and this was the perfect occasion to celebrate! It was such a fun morning and fantastic way to celebrate our little girl's first birthday.

Harvest Festival

The kids were so excited about the harvest party at preschool.  They have been talking about it for a couple of weeks because there was promise of a hayride and pumpkins (with seeds).  The teachers did an outstanding job of organizing a fun morning.  In addition to the hayride around a local farm and picking their own pumpkins, they got to play outside with their friends, decorate their pumpkins, make their own pudding snack, play games, and show off their classroom.
