Myrtle Beach 2010

Lovin' It! We just returned from an awesome family filled trip to Myrtle Beach. We stayed at this really fun resort called Kingston Plantation compliments of Duke (Peter worked one day)! The kids had a blast and Peter and I enjoyed watching them have so much fun.

Beach Time
The kids waved to everyone, splashed in the water, played in the sand, floated in the waves, and met new friends.

Pool Time
There were a million pools, we went to one - SPLASH PARK. I mean it was fantastic, water spurting out everywhere, tunnels, slides, and a lazy river. The kids loved it all! They kept saying "Up" and pointing to the slide. They would climb in the tunnel and then they would scream at the top of their lungs... It was a blast!

Night Time
In the evenings we would have a little family time - enjoy happy hour, walk around the resort, hang out on the beach, eat...

Erin and Addison

Last weekend we celebrated Erin and Sameer's impending arrival - Addison Ria Valenti Bawa! It was such a fun morning with friends from her childhood, high school, and college! Erin is such an amazing person - intelligent, fun, incredible personality, caring, giving, and full of love for everyone and everything. In the past two years, Erin and Sameer got married, moved to Denver, started new jobs, bought a house, and are now expecting a baby girl November/December 2010. You are going to be fantabulous parents!

Play Dates Are the Best

Pros for Play Dates
You get to hang out with other parents!
Even if you only speak in incomplete phrases - you are talking to adults!
Eating and/or coffee is usually involved!
Time flies - no matter what time of day it might be!
Comradery is a great thing!

Oh and the kids have a blast too!

Recycle

I recycled the kids' highchairs to create a "reading station" in their playroom. They were so in to it, that they spent 45 minutes (past bedtime) flipping through books...

Somersault

Max tries to do a somersault too, it turns out more like downward dog!

Shoe Envy

We just had our first shoe crisis. Max got new shoes Monday. Kate has been trying to put on his shoes everyday, three times a day. Today she did not want to put on any other shoes period! So we took a trip to Target. Max in the buggie, Kate buckled in the cart, shoe isle here we come... Max and Kate threw shoes back and forth until we came across the brightest pink shoes I have ever seen! I try them on Kate and she will not let me take them off - a good sign we have found the perfect pair! So we scan the shoes right on her foot and she shows them to everyone in line!

Holy smokes, we are in trouble...

17 Months

Max and Kate are so much fun. Changing each day - learning new words, discovering new things, climbing on everything, refining their palate, pushing the limits! It takes me hours to replay all the moments of the day for Peter (poor Peter).

She has a favorite doll named Baby but comes out "Bebe". She carries it all around and repeats Bebe a million times a day. Baby comes with us on our walks, to the store, to play, and to bed. She can point out Bebe's eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and toe-toes. We are completely fascinated with her comprehension recently. She is able to make choices, bring us things, put things away, and follow some (but not all) directives. My favorite example occurred last week when she wanted to bring both Bebe and Bunny on a walk. I explained (haha) that we could only take one and she needed to CHOOSE Baby or Bunny. She went back inside, looked at both, and set Bebe on the bench and returned to the stroller with Bunny. At the pool, she enjoys the independence of getting in and out of the water and waving to all the lifeguards (especially the guys but don't tell Peter).

He is zipping right along. He went from 1 step to twelve steps in a week. He still defaults to crawling when serious matters are involved (i.e. a passie or food). He has a Lovey - a little lion he hugs, kisses, and snuggles with when he goes to sleep. He makes friends with everyone at the pool. He just wanders up to any stranger and plays with their toys, holds on to them, waves, splashes, tries to share toys...

Poor Frog

We discovered a very small frog today. The kids were fascinated.

I am sure the little frog was relieved when the kids remembered they came out to ride bikes...
