23 Months

Kate is our drama queen. She has a lot to say and loves to copy all the words and phrases she hears. I feel like I have an echo most of the day. She has decided to call us Mommy and Daddy instead of Mama and Dadda (excuse me). My favorite phrases are "Oh Max" and "a mess". She told Daddy "Mommy. A Mess." when he got home one night because I had spilled something on the floor. She loves to be read to and her favorite book is Igher, Igher (Higher, Higher) which has about four words that she has memorized and reads aloud in her crib. Her pretend play is hilarious, she creates cars to buckle her friends into and take to school. She feeds us mato(tomato) soup and noodles for her baby. She tends to her baby's needs by changing her, putting her on the potty, giving her medicine, listening to her tummy, and giving her shots. If I ask her to sing she busts out with ABCD,...G,...MM,..P,...T, ......YAY! or Twinkle Twinkle, star, up above, like a diamond, sky...

Max is our independent thinker. He likes playing with Kate and other kids but is just as content with working on something by himself - like stacking legos and blocks, doing a puzzle, hiding in a cabinet with cars, or organizing the trains. He is in love with Elmo. He pretends with all his new toys - kitchen, train, doctor kit, baby kit, workshop, and cars. He has sound effects for water, trains, the hammer, and pouring things. He thinks it is funny to give Kate's baby a bottle. Max will throw balls overhand endlessly when we are outside. He has added a lot of new words and a few phrases, seems to understand much more than he says, and demonstrates an understanding of opposites (i.e. up/down, in/out, yes/no, open/close, hot/cold). He is quick to say please, thank you, sorry and will go straight to 'time-out' if told to do so. He gets really excited when people come to the house and runs around in circles. He enjoys a good book especially when he can back his tucus into your lap (love that) and point and name things on the pages.

Our days are filled with adorable and hilarious moments!
