2 1/2 Year Photo Shoot

I took the kids to a nearby lake where they like to watch the geese in hopes of getting a few pictures of my little 2 1/2 year olds. Fortunately for me, the geese were very active, there was a a baby goose named Speedy the Mud Duck, two little boys were fishing and they kept showing the kids the fish they would catch before throwing them back and there was a breeze!

Big Boy Bed

Timeline
April 30 - Max falls out of bed

May 1 - Order beds and mattresses

July 22 - Kate climbs out of bed gracefully

July 28 - Kids sleep on crib mattress on the floor as a trial (neighbors' idea)

July 29 - Kate requests to return to her crib and has been there ever since

August 6 - Max, Kate, and Daddy build Max's bed (move crib to nursery!).
Max sleeps in his big boy bed!!!

I had a small meltdown about my little boy moving to a big boy bed. :) I checked on him at midnight and 3am. He moved himself to the floor between midnight and 3am. At 6:30am I hear Kate telling Max "back in bed Max, get back in bed!" I go in at 7am and Max is in his big boy bed and proudly proclaims, "I stay in bed Mommy!"

To Date
Max has been in his big boy bed ever since! Kate still wants to be in her crib but likes to play with Max on his bed -today she brought him pizza after his nap.

Brother & Sister - Friends Forever!

2 1/2 Years Old

Kate is creative, affectionate and imaginative. She loves to find/show us imaginary baby animals and tell us what they need. She is doing well with her letters, colors (thank you M&Ms) and complex sentences. She does not miss an opportunity to sing, dance, jump, or otherwise get our attention. She wants her Daddy to be "proud of you(me)" all the time especially when she goes pee-pee on the potty. She loves the big pool - watching the bigger kids play and floating freely in her ring.

Max is industrious, focused, and friendly. He identifies every capital letter he sees whether it is on a sign, shirt, or car. Max can count to twenty (skipping 4 and 14) and can identify numbers 1-10. He loves the"big cool" - he pretends to be a fish, throws and retrieves little torpedoes and puts his whole head under water. He continues to "work on Pop Pop's new boat" with his tools and "check baby" with his doctor kit. He always has a box or bucket full of random items like tools, cars, and blocks so he is ready to work at any given time.

National Night Out 2011

The kids and I happened upon National Night Out in the parking lot of our neighborhood pool. A fire truck, police cars, emergency personnel, and local retailers were promoting safety and community awareness. Max was so excited to see the firetruck and I was certain he would be climbing all over the fire truck. However, as much as the firemen and I tried, he would only take laps around the fire truck and watch the other kids go inside. Every time the firemen would ask him if he wanted to go inside he would say, "in a minute." Kate sat patiently on the curb until the police cars pulled up then she dragged Max and I to every car and hugged every officer! She made sure to get two of everything - pencils, stickers etc. so she could share with max (so cute). They also enjoyed their first snow cone - a delicious mess! :)

Happy Birthday Peter

I have had the pleasure of celebrating 12 of your 35 birthdays with you. Each one special and unique with friends, family, or just the two of us! We have traveled to the beach and Boston, stayed home and enjoyed the simplicity of cooking, drinking, and time together, gone on many dates to new and old restaurants, gathered friends for Allen and Sons BBQ and have been serenated by your sweet children who call you "birthday Daddy" and relish in the fact that they get to have birthday cake at the end of the day. All these ways of celebrating your day remind me how special you are to so many people. You are such a thoughtful, genuine, caring individual who fills our days with so much happpiness!

Happy Birthday to my "Mister", my best buddy, my thoughtful husband, and the Daddy of 2 (almost 3) adorable children that fill our days and thoughts with so much happiness. I hope you enjoy all your surprises and know how much you are loved by your entire family.
