Pool Time

First day of summer vacation...
A lot of fun was had by all and the day with topped off with a trip to the pool!!! Max could be found on the SLIDE. Kate was everywhere DIVING for everything. Anna was UNDERWATER more time than she was above.  Alexander squealed and splashed with such JOY.  Our sweet neighbor, Ms. Caitlin, volunteered to go to the pool with us - God love her!

Ready. Set. BEEP!

Kate and Max had their swim team time trials. It was an exciting morning.  Kate and Max were both a little nervous and it was overwhelming to be there with almost 300 swimmers but we figured things out together and all feel real good about what to expect at meets.  The 6&under group swim freestyle and backstroke only with a fixed distance of 15 meters and two teen sweepers that stop them and move them out of the pool. It was a very positive experience for all of us and I am thrilled they are loving swim team.
Kate was thrilled to get her name written on her body
Max does a little dance on the blocks before his turn.
Anna and and her friend Liam
Kate is loving the backstroke
Max was so proud!

Maniacs

The kids have spent the last month accruing 25 miles by walking and running for the Mills Park Maniac Marathon!  We had so much fun together walking to/from school, around our neighborhood trails, and D.C. to get our miles.  For every mile, they earned a bead for their necklaces.  On the final day, we ran as a school the last 1.2 miles to make a grand total of 26.2 (a marathon distance) miles!  I am so proud of my little maniacs - they had so much fun and really got excited about it all.

Student Led Conferences

I had the pleasure of going to school with Kate and Max to see first hand how far the kids have come in one year.  They were so excited about sharing their folder of work, read me a couple of stories, practice some math skills, retell a story using puppets and a scene they made and present their zoo animal projects to the class.  The conferences were followed by an ice cream social and slideshow of pictures from the entire year. I am not yet ready to let go of kindergarten or their sweet teachers, Ms. Milberg and Ms. Connor; however, we are all pretty excited about our summer adventures!

Mezza Luna Lavender Farm

We were so excited that the lavender farm survived the winter and opened this weekend!!!  We had the best time picking our own lavender, getting faces painted and playing in the fields.
