Staycation

Since I am on bed rest and we have to remain close to Duke, our annual trip to the beach did not happen this year. Fortunately, the kids are too young to understand that we were not going on vacation and Peter has been wonderfully patient about everything.

Peter filled the kids' days with trips to several parks, the Fresh Market and grocery, arts and crafts, Barnes and Noble, pretend adventures throughout the house, a visit to their preschool, play time outside with our neighbors, and a daily trip to Starbucks!!!

Peter filled my days with fresh flowers, snacks, yummy picnic dinners in bed, special surprises, lots of giggles, stocking me up on activities to fill my days, and humoring me by doing my endless list of 'neccesary' tasks in and around the house.  My sweet husband even changed the summer wreaths to the fall wreaths!

In addition, Mimi and Pop Pop spent a couple of days with us.  Mimi made her amazing chicken barley soup and brought our favorite Chicken Pot Pie from Maria's in Greensboro.  They kept the kids busy inside and out, took a trip to the library, enjoyed Yolo frozen yogurt, visited the donkeys, and even brought home rocks for me!

In the end, we accomplished more this week than if we had been away on vacation, the kids had a blast with their Daddy, I was spoiled to the core and Peter got a little time to himself.
Now, we are gearing up for a new week.  My friend, Yelena, has graciously agreed to take care of the kids for the next several weeks, the kids' bags and outfits are out for the first day of preschool, the grocery shopping and laundry are done, the lawn is freshly mowed, and I am starting my third book.

Staycations are not so bad. I have had a few. The storm did not help matters either, right? OK, you have one darn good and caring husband. Love how you are so pampered and the kids must have been in heaven to have time with both of you. I am glad that you are staying on bed rest. I am sure it is not fun but the benefit of this time will be priceless! Love and hugs, YVBA
