The kids were very intrigued by the Lava Tubes (caves made by lava). We met this amazing guide at Kula Kai Caverns who brilliantly taught us so much in two hours, I felt like and expert leaving those caves and excited to do more exploring!

Hawaii: Waterfalls
We hiked around Akaka Falls, Tropical Botanical Gardens and Rainbow Falls with a stop for cocunut milk and frozen pineapple along the way!
Akaka Falls
Coconut milk on the roadside!
Tropical Botanical Gardens
Rainbow Falls
Hawaii: Volcanoes National Park
We did the the volcanoes well! We got there extra early and hiked the sulfur trail and steam vents trail and got a peak along the crater rim at the crater floor! The history and culture was rich and all that has happened in the past year was very real and significant. We worked our way around several other trails and followed the lava flow to the sea.
Aloha!
We just returned from the most magnificent trip to Hawaii I could have ever imagined! I hardly know where to begin...the adventures, sights, atmosphere, climate, history, food and culture were beyond words. As Max would say, "This trip was EPIC!"
