Kate had her first sleepover birthday party at Zaida's house! She was very excited and a little nervous. Before we left she said, "I feel like I have a butterfly in my tummy that had a lot of babies... but I am going to stick it out." We have known Zaida and her family since preschool and they live less than 2 miles from our house so I was confident this would be a success - sleepover or lateover - it was going to be fun! Sure enough, the party did not disappoint - food galore, movies, dance parties, hair chalk, manicures, scavenger hunt, new PJs... - SO. MUCH. FUN!

In Full Swing
Baseball season has just started this week. Max moved up to the machine-pitch level with his buddies (and coach) from last year! We were all a little nervous but Max did GREAT! He is absolutely pumped about the season!

Birthday Bowling
Aunt Jenny and Uncle Andy gave Kate and Max a gift card to our nearby bowling alley and arcade. So we made a fun family afternoon out of it! Thank you for our birthday gift!

Lego Convention
Max patiently waited for his birthday gift from us - The Lego Convention in Raleigh. They spent the day building, playing, seeing cool creations and meeting some awesome master builders. Max said "IT WAS AWESOME!!!" Thanks Peter for remembering some pics!

Museum of Life and Science
We totally lucked out with another gorgeous afternoon and decided to head to the Museum of Life and Science to check out the new(ish) playground - Hideaway Woods! Let me tell you, it was a hit!!! It is like a giant treehouse with all these places to hide and climb, a stream to play in, oversized trees to climb on, and oversized stick structures (ART!) to run through. It was amazing and since it looked like it was going to storm, it was not crowded at all. Of course we spent time inside touching everything possible - a giant space filled with wonderful opportunities to build, create and learn. Such a fun afternoon!

NC Zoo
We picked an amazing day to visit the zoo. It was cool when we arrived but warmed up quickly and we avoided the crowds. Little did we know the entire zoo would fill to capacity later in the day - WOW! We started in North America and worked our way to Africa. Alexander fell asleep in the baby backpack after the giraffes so Alex and I went back for the car giving the rest time to see more of Africa. We had a successful trip seeing lots of large animals including seals, bears, gorillas, puffins, elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, Elk, had a picnic and played in the Garden and Friends playground.
The polar bear, Nikita, was by far the biggest hit! She was HUGE and having the best time swimming and doing somersaults in the water for the crowd! She was AMAZING!
