The second quarter was a whirlwind with holidays and breaks in the middle, new schedules, projects, author studies, learning experiences, spirit weeks, science experiments, group projects, poetry unit, government studies, art projects, novels, basketball, Martin Luther King and a whole lot of hot chocolate and marshmallows!

Gnocchi
Peter outdid himself once again with Sunday dinner - homemade gnocchi. Soft fluffy pillows that melt in your mouth. He made a yummy pancetta creamy cheese sauce and a creamy tomato sauce for the pillows to float in. It was seriously amaze-balls!
I LOVE PURGING
We have been deep cleaning under the eaves, attic and crawlspace this past week! We were able to part with many things, the basketball hoop made a comeback!

Jordan Lake Dam Loop
Daddy gets the award for cool new adventure in the New Year. He found a fun hike where Jordan Lake dumps into the Haw River. It was a pretty remarkable site to walk over the dam and process what was happening - calm lake meets rushing river! Throwing rocks into water is endless fun. The kids had fun exploring the bluffs. My favorite part was that Alex made a fishing pole and dragged his rock(fish) through all the puddles. It really looked like this little fishy was following him. :)

New Year's Eve
We had a super fun New Year's Eve! We started with a picture memory scavenger hunt, then BINGO, yummy pork schnitzel, quick pickles and risotto for dinner, movie, dessert and a lot of silliness!
