Pumpkin Patch

With the help of Shannon, we found a COVID friendly pumpkin patch in the middle of NOWHERE, NC where we could simply pick our pumpkins from the vine. The ids and I were overwhelmed at the HUMONGOUS pumpkins in this patch in addition to every other size and color you could imagine! We ran around from pumpkin to pumpkin for over an hour in awe.

The Letter "T"

Cousin Claire is doing homeschool preschool this year.  It was our week to help introduce the Letter "T".  Everyone had some great ideas, so we did a mini video for each day of the week!

Monday - Anna Introduced the Letter "T" and went through a mystery bag of items starting with the letter; Claire decorated a "T" poster we made.

Tuesday - Anna read The Wish Tree

Wednesday - Alex introduced Claire to his Letterland friend Talking Tess!

Thursday - Kate did story time with Claire - How to Train Trains and Turtle Splash

Friday - Anna led a craft project for Claire to make her own TREE tote bag.

We had so much fun putting together these quick little videos!!!

Student of the Week!

Anna was chosen Student of the Week by her teacher Ms. Ware!  Anna was so excited.  The teacher made a big deal of it to the class and all the neighbors have sent special messages making Anna feel extra special!

We are so proud of you Anna for working so hard, staying positive, making new friends, participating, problem solving,  asking good questions, completing your work and always going the extra mile to do extra credit virtually! Anna, YOU ROCK!

Virtual Academy: Week 7

Week seven was short and sweet with only four day!

Kate and Max were busy bees and the asynchronous time mixed in is really helping them manage their time!  Added new this week was the ability to hold books at the school library for touchless pick up outside - Books To Go! Also, they started their Fun Fridays in which they pick a class to pop into and do a fun activity like (bring your pet to school, Harry Potter Trivia, Geography Mania, etc.) - such a fun way to mix up the kids virtually and let them be themselves!
Anna had an exciting week with Student of the Week, starting the Human Body unit, and all the fun challenges the teacher uses to get the kids thinking critically and interacting with one another.  It is amazing to me how much content the teacher is covering while building relationships, having small groups, meeting with kids during office hours, offering a variety of extension activities and giving thoughtful feedback on all the assignments.
Alex is thriving in his little kinder corner!  He is reading, writing, cutting, pasting, making videos, counting, sorting, meeting in small groups, using various programs as extensions for all his core subjects, looking forward to each special (especially PE).  His teacher amazing me with her brilliant smile, bubbly attitude and truly a passion for what she is doing.
