Election Day

The kids and I had an awesome experience at the polls today!  Max was excited about meeting a few of the candidates, reading a little literature, and asking questions like "Is there a historian to vote for?" and to the board of education candidate, "why do my friends have to go to a different school next year?".  Kate and Anna were chatting up the line and waving to all the familiar faces while Alex (on my back) was playing peek-a-boo with a grandmother in line.  All-in-all it was quick and easy and I was glad the kids could experience going to the polls on election day.

Flying Firefighters

Monday is homework night.  This simply means, I help Kate and Max get the math portion of their homework sorted, checked and corrected and listen to their reading selections for the week.  This requires the Littles to play on their own upstairs...which ALWAYS ends with us rolling in laughter at the dress-up selections! Today was no different, Firefighters on a Broomstick - why? - to get to the fires faster of course!!!

Storybook Night

We absolutely love storybook night during the school book fair!  After showers and dinner, we get to go to school in our PJs and enjoy the book fair, crafts, snacks, and our teachers (and principals) reading stories. It is the perfect end to the day!

Halloween!

The kids were so excited about their costumes! They all had their own ideas and personalized their look with hand-painted candy buckets.  We met up with neighbors for a super fun Chili Cook-Off and then hit the streets for some awesome treat getting!

Pumpkin Time

The kids have been eager to carve/decorate their pumpkins!  We had the most gorgeous morning for doing this activity outside. Kate and Max enjoyed the whole process of digging out the seeds, drawing faces and carving the pumpkin.  Alex maximized his pumpkin and turned it into three different faces - a pirate, Frankenstein, and a witch.  Anna chose a more complicated, yet mess free project, that turned her pumpkin into a cat!
