Soccer Time

Usually, Peter takes Kate and Max to soccer Saturday mornings followed by a lunch date to Randy Riley's Pizza.  Since Peter had to work last weekend, I got a chance to see the kids in action.  My favorite moment was when they said goodbye to their friend Mateo who they call "Matato".

Kate Visits Duke

Kate has been asking Peter to spend a day with him at work.  One evening, Little Miss Persistent suggested that Peter check his computer for a day that would be good for her to come to visit...so we picked a day! :)  I am not sure who was cuter - Peter who was brainstorming all he would do with Kate or Kate who practically flew out of the car when we got to the hospital.

They were both BEAMING when I picked them up and Kate had oodles of stories and souvenirs for her and Max.

BEST. SWIM LESSONS. EVER!!!

 

Kate asked to stay for the next class and Max asked if he could come every day!

Ta-Da!!!

Anna stood up and took four steps in a row this week and continues to practice!!! I really do not know who is more excited, Anna, her siblings or her parents...lots of hooping and hollering goin' on here! :)

3, 2, 1...Blast Off!

Thanks to a little space unit at school the kids got excited about rockets! 

We practiced our cutting, writing, and sequencing skills with this little activity from Homeschool Creations.

 We set up our stomp rocket.

(I have secretly wanted one of these for a while)

We took turns counting backwards, blasting our rockets, and marking their location with our paper rockets. The kids figured out on their own that two feet made their rockets go way higher.

I see a lot of fun afternoons and experiments in our future. :)

Caterpillar to Butterfly

The kids and I decided we wanted to know more about BUGS this week.  We went to the library and selected some books.  After we read a few of our books and talked about different bugs we all seemed excited about the life cycle of a butterfly which led to a pinterest search for fun projects. We had a lot of options and decided Caterpillars, Chrysalis, and Butterflies - Oh, My! seemed to fit our interests and needs the most (this week).

First, we got inspiration from The Very Hungry Caterpillar for painting our own caterpillars

Then we made our wings

 We put our caterpillars in their chrysalis...

 ...and hung them on a tree
