Cary Tennis Park

Have I ever mentioned I love 3-day weekends?!?!  I mean, if we are restructuring how school looks, why not include three day weekends as part of the new normal?!?! I digress...

The kids have been banging the heck out of our garage doors the past six months so we decided to take advantage of the nice weather, open courts and extra time to have a little fun on the courts.  It was such a huge success, the kids are already asking to go back next weekend!  My tennis heart and mommy heart are bursting with happiness right now!

Pumpkin Time

We are getting excited about all things fall around here!

Crow Branch Overlook Loop

I discovered an app, AllTrails, for finding trails near you.  Apparently, I am the last person on the planet to discover this app, but whatevs...we were super excited to explore a less traveled trail in Chapel Hill.

Craft Club

Anna and her friend Mila are running their class craft club weekly.  The first week Anna facilitated a craft making a geometric art design.  The second week she demonstrated how to make a HUG to send to a loved one.

Virtual Academy: Week 6

Kate and Max were busy learning the phases of the moon, doing a SS project, using RACE technique to respond to writing prompts, ratios, yoga, tennis, and keyboarding practice.

Anna had a materials pick up this week, ELA assessment, started on her human body science unit, got an awesome progress report and we had conferences.

Alex has distribution day, started his forces and motion science unit, did his first science experiments, created a rocket in art, made an obstacle course for PE, shared his parachute in STEM and did a lot of sorting in math!

Muppet Caper

We surprised the kids with a projector and screen for enjoying movies Outdoors Under the stars. Peter cooked up a nice beef stew and we sat by the fire and watched the Muppets (always a pleaser)!!!

Storytime

Kate has been doing storytime with cousin Claire via Zoom each week. She picks stories to go with the letter of the week.

JDRF 2020

 Anna's Army 2020

In honor of our grandfather, Kenneth Kranz (aka Pop Pop), our family is walking to create a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Two years ago Pop Pop passed away and left us with beautiful memories and a passion to take control of our own future. This is one opportunity for us to impact our futures and the futures of millions of individuals who live with diabetes every day.

While life looks different for all of us this year, Pop Pop's message continues to guide us. Through our challenges, we find opportunity - to grow, to learn and to be grateful for all those around us.

By raising funds and awareness virtually, we are changing the future of diabetes for everyone. Please consider making a contribution HERE as we count up our miles the next six weeks.

Sincerely,

Kranz Family

Virtual Academy: Week 5

A busy week for sure - school, yard work, Mimi's birthday and a hurricane!

Max and Kate were deep into Surface area, geography, aligning the Hero's Journey with Lightening Thief, and phases of the moon.

Anna was working the use of arrays in multiplication problem solving, finding the meaning/moral/lesson of a story, comparing the branches of government and understanding the importance of the Constitution, and making an argument for/against the leash law.

We also had our first virtual Craft Club meeting and Anna facilitated the entire activity!
Alex has been working hard on his Letterland characters, using Pete the Cat books as springboards for writing prompts, sorting things according to different attributes, show and tell and celebrating Dot Day all week long! Specials should not be forgotten as they pack a mighty punch with their 20-minutes - Music, Art, PE, STEM, and Media - they read stories, sing, dance, run, race, compete, paint!
