WOW, WOW, WOW!

What an incredible moment in history we got to experience this week.  SpaceX captured our heart, minds and curiosity this week.  We watched with great anticipation on Wednesday until the mission was scrubbed due to weather. The kids watched the weather the rest of the week and were hopeful once again that they would get to see the first rocket with humans blast off Saturday afternoon.  It was like the world had stopped and there was nothing else happening for that intense hour that we waited in anticipation for the rocket to launch, go through the separation stages, enter orbit IN SPACE and dock at ISS!  We were absolutely glued to NASA.gov. 

Remote Learning- Week 11

We can feel things winding down in the world of remote learning.  Partly because it was a four-day week and partly because a lot of the projects and units are starting to wrap up. Anna has been hard at work on a biography project on Alexander Graham Bell. Kate & Max are wrapping up a weather unit just in time for a tropical depression to roll through! Alex was super excited about his butterflies and then the spaceship took hold fast and furiously!

Butterfly Release

We had an international butterfly release with ALL of our cousins, Mimi, and Ms. Sujata (Alex's teacher) present via ZOOM! It was a huge success - all the butterflies flew away!

Memorial Day

The kids camped in the backyard to celebrate Memorial Day!  Mimi stopped by for an amazing sausage and grits dinner complete with s'mores. The kids caught fireflies!  The neighbors actually had a fire pit going, so they sat on the lawn and watched from afar. We had a yummy oatmeal bar (honey, fresh fruit, dried fruit etc.) set up for breakfast.  We rolled out for a family walk/bike ride around the lake, lunch and the the kids rolled up the tent and gear.   

Yard Work

We are thoroughly enjoying our time together working in the yard.
