A Family Adventure

Peter has wonderful childhood memories of camping with his family.  In memory of his Ken, the Simmons family joined us for our first family camping adventure in Black Mountain, NC.  We were all super excited and we totally lucked out with an awesome campsite and great weather. 

Jacquie found an awesome lunch spot at Judge's Riverside Restaurant along the Catawba River.  As an added bonus they were having revolutionary war reenactment. 

Tent and gear were quickly sorted.

Campfire fun included s'mores, hot dogs and a cool rock craft!

Everyone slept soundly through the thunder and lightening rain storm that lasted 6 hours (I thought it was a tropical depression).  We were a bit damp in the morning but eggs, sausage, banana bread and COFFEE fueled us up for the drive home.

Pop Pop

Kenneth George Kranz

April 10, 1942 - September 19, 2018

Ken leaves us with many memories and life lessons that will continue to impact our lives moving forward and inspire us to be the best people we know how to be.  Our children are filled with the joy and laughter they shared with Pop Pop over the years and will always remember his unconditional love, bright smile, warm hugs and thoughtful words.

Jumpy

Alex spent hours with Jumpy Friday - teaching it tricks (roll over, high fives etc.), kissing it to see if it was a princess, introducing it to our neighbors, making a special home for him... So much love for this little creature!

Coincidence

At Mills Park there is a huge emphasis on PRIDE (Positive Attitude, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Excellence).  Our mascot, Millie the Panther, is a constant reminder to our students of PRIDE.  Each week, students are selected by classmates for demonstrating PRIDE and get to take care of Mini Millie.  This week, Max, Kate and Anna were each selected as PRIDE winners in their classrooms!

Ms. Casile

Our dear, sweet Ms. Casile has begun a new chapter in her life - Baby Giada! We miss her dearly at Mills Park Elementary but we LOVE having special time with her and Giada! Ms. Casile will always have a special place in our hearts.

Labor Day

My parents invited us back to Wilmington for one last summer celebration!  We settled in for a couple of days of relaxing fun in the sun and some AMAZING food.

Bee-utiful Beginnings!

Alex started preschool TODAY!  The kids made it a super exciting morning to get him pumped up! When I picked him up, before I could even get the question out, he said, "Everything was SO EXCITING!" He talked my ear off all the way home about the kids, the snack, the PLAYGROUND, Ms. M., lunch bunch, the morning song, prayer for snack.... So excited for my lil' man!
