Tale of Despereaux

Ms. Casile asked us to create a learning experience to go along with the novel they just finished as a class!  We had so much fun coming up with some fun activities to go along with this theme.  We packed the time with such fun stations including a photo booth, game station with Pin the Tail on Despereaux, Spool Toss, Mouse Cupcakes, Minute-to-Win-It Puzzles, Felt Mouse Bookmarks, and estimation station!  All the kids really got into this book and immediately connected the finer details to to activities we were doing!

Super Grandma!

Grandma Mary is such a trooper! She likes to come for a weekly visit on Wednesdays but added a day so she could help while I went to the kids learning experience and get in a quick visit with the Kimball family (i.e. hold Baby Claire!).  She always appreciate a list of things to do while visiting, so in addition to taking care of the kids she keeps everything else on track - laundry, baking, dinner, cleaning, sewing and groceries to name a few - and makes time to go shopping!  The women can do it all and the kids never want her to leave!

Sweet Moment

While I cleaned up from lunch, Anna took it upon herself to set up story time for Alex, Bitty Baby, and Pink Bunny...Sweet girl!!

Sewing Lessons

The girls (and Max) asked Mimi for sewing lessons with her.  Mimi has spent weeks planning multiple lessons that all build on each other from threading a needles to ???.

Breaks were an integral part of the day! 

 In case it is not immediately obvious, they are working on an Ant Playground and Village.

 Alex was tickled to have Pop Pop's undivided attention.

After Peter's yummy dinner of lobster and crab, the kids snuggled on the couch for some story time before bed!
 

Looking forward to many more sewing lessons...

Mr. Crafty

Anna and Alex had a craft bug one day... We dabbled in a few mediums before we found that a glue stick and googly eyes are the perfect makings for a real MONSTER!

Over The Moon!

The kids and I were eager to meet sweet Claire!  Liz and Brandon graciously let us welcome Claire home from the hospital! Everyone is smitten with this little love!

Anna's BFF

Anna and Gracie scheduled their own play date one day during school (too funny).  The girls have been together since MMO and are just so sweet together.  The day was just so fun with tea parties, dress-up, crafts and time on the bikes.

Leprechaun(s)

Alex woke up and told everyone he saw 2 leprechauns in his room during the night!!!  Everyone got seriously excited and it was a mad dash to see what clues they could find that a leprechaun (or more) had actually been in their house!  We were all so excited to see that the kids' autograph books they left out had been signed, mini green m&m's were everywhere, and each kid got a shiny lucky penny! Then, we found shamrock clues that led to a pile of green beads for everyone! It was such an exciting morning!

Village Park

We had a little time to spare and the weather was nice so we popped over to our new favorite park!  Last time we totally missed the swings and other climbing structures, so we were sure to start there first before the ginormous play structure!
