No trip is complete without a tour on Miss Ellie! All the kids got a chance to drive the boat! Max really got excited about the navigation system. We even saw a lobster man pulling traps!
One of many parks we love to visit is Fort Point State Park. The kids call it Apple Island because there are apple trees everywhere for picking. We started with a little time playing on "Rock Skipping Beach" (best rocks for skipping found here) and then headed up to the lighthouse to collect our apples and eat while we watched the harbor seals play in the water below!
The kids were so excited about catching their own crab using hotdogs as bait! We got dozens of crabs... Alex was a little too young for this adventure so, he zoomed all over the neighborhood on a gold cart with Mimi and Pop Pop! Alex gave all the kids a lift back to the house.
Mimi and I took the kids on a walk around downtown Belfast to see the shipyard and walk across the footbridge that overlooks the harbor. We happened upon a fisherman, Mr. Elliott, who was having great success catching mackerel. He offered to let each of the kids do some fishing with him and they all caught multiple fish!!!
Mimi and I have a tradition of taking one morning to ourselves for a little kayaking trip. This year we spent several hours combing the coast and found hundreds of sea urchins, giant clams, slipper shells and a few surprised crabs. Oh, how we laughed and almost fell in a time or two...
At the end of our trip we decided it was time for Kate and Max to have their first kayaking trip! Such an awesome adventure to share with them!
We just spent an AMAZING week exploring the rocky shores of Belfast, Maine with Mimi and Pop Pop. We filled our days with adventures on land and by sea. In between adventures, we feasted on amazing lobster and worked on projects. It is hard to describe how much we all enjoy this trip; however, Anna's poetic remark, "Everything here is a wonder!" sums it up pretty nicely!
Thank You Mimi and Pop Pop for another year of precious memories to treasure for a lifetime.
We have had and amazing three weeks with Lana and Charles. We filled our days with visits to school, homework, pool time, long walks, pedicures, shopping, getaway to Wilmington, dentist, clay masks, baseball, visits to parks, picnics, backyard play time, organizing, painting, spiralizing, and lots of silliness in between. It was a wonderfully relaxing and productive time together!!!
I LOVED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE!
