Two Peas and Two Pods

Happy Halloween

Max and Kate were invited to their first Halloween party. The night was complete with an outside movie, lots of treats (spirits for parents), and a lot of happy kids dressed in fun costumes. Max and Kate were excited to take part in their pea pod costumes and watch all the kids play.

He Did It!!!

MAX CRAWLED TODAY! We were playing in the bedroom and Max wanted to get the bottle of lotion from Kate so he just rolled over and started crawling with all his might. Kate and I cheered and made him do it over and over.

Avon Walk

The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer was a spectacular event this past weekend in Charlotte, NC. It was a powerful weekend full of emotion and cheer. I met a lot of wonderful people from across the country. They shared their stories and we pushed each other to power through the rain. Peter took care of the kids, sent encouraging text messages, and met me at the end of each day with smiling kids.

Thank you to everyone who supported me through donations, emails, phone calls, and training walks. We all made a huge difference in the fight against cancer.

Pumpkin Patch

My sister gave me the BEST IDEA EVER - to visit a pumpkin patch. I immediately called my friend Jenn who has an adorable boy, Coby, just five weeks younger than Kate and Max. Jenn and I share everything about our childrens' day-to-day needs and wants, help each other find the best deals (Jenn is really the best), and go on adventures together. It took about five seconds to decide to take a field trip to a pumpkin patch. We enjoyed a sunny afternoon at Ganyard Hill Pumpkin Patch pulling pumpkins off the vine and taking pictures of our kids. Coby was obsessed with Kate, Kate was fascinated by the hay, Max enjoyed cheerios on the blanket, and all of them managed to smile a few times between licking pumpkin stems and moving dirt around with their feet and hands!

I am not sure who had more fun, me or the kids,
but I am already looking forward to next year!

The Perfect Day

Peter is the greatest husband, buddy, and father! He really outdid himself this year for my birthday. He surprised me by taking the day off of work! I got "Me Time" all morning while he watched the kids and cleaned the house top to bottom. Then we had "Family Time" and enjoyed a nice lunch out and everyone got a little treat. The grand finale was a "Date Night" at a very fun restaurant called Mint followed by the most delicious dessert mousse at Vin Rouge. It was a wonderful day and I hope every birthday is exactly like this one!
Thank you Peter - I love you!

Happy Noises

I wish I could capture the diverse repertoire of noises Max and Kate make throughout the day. There are their giggles, squeals, humming, sputtering, noises that resemble words, smacking - it all makes us smiles and laugh. Daddy finds a few giggles with a little tickling game...

Kate has perfected her crawling and she is fast. Kate wants to stand all of the time yet she does not understand that she will fall over if she does not hold on.

Max loves his rolling but has decided that sitting is fun too! He was studying Kate very carefully as she was standing and had to give it a try for himself. He seemed quite pleased with himself.

8 Months

Wow, has it been eight months already? Unbelievable! I was just looking over photos from their first week home and found myself in tears. Each day and phase is more exciting than the previous. How could we have more fun, I do not know!?!?

Our little loves!

Max is getting a lot more independent. He has no problem getting where he wants to go by rolling and a little bit of scooting. He easily manipulates his pacifier. When Kate takes his toy or pulls out his pacifier, Max knows how to get them back. He likes to copy us - slapping the table, making funny noises, and peek-a-boo. Max prefers to feed himself now after a big bowl of oatmeal or yogurt!

Kate is into everything! She rolls, crawls, and sits on her own. She seems to want everything Max gets his hands on. When I fold laundry it works best to put her in the basket to prevent my piles from being destroyed. She has taken up singing, in her bed, stroller, car, all the time, little hums and squeaks. She has now discovered she can peak out of her bed...

The fun never stops!
