Max likes peaches too. He shares his happiness by sputtering with a mouth full of peaches!

Rolling...Sitting...

Kate and Max have been rolling around like crazy. Kate has pulled up on her knees and rocked a couple of times. Max is thrilled to be able to get to Kate now that he is so mobile. I had to safety proof the house - put up gates, plug up the outlets, and move the blinds up out of their reach.

We are steadily working through our list of first foods. They seem to like pears. The verdict is still out on peaches, but I think Kate is a fan. Kate decided she does like bananas after-all.

They both do a great job sitting in their highchair, exersaucer (and standing), and jump-n-go, now they are working on sitting on their own. We are seeing some progress.

There favorite place to play is under their crib. They take their toys with them and giggle away...

Sometimes they play so hard they just pass out!

They seem to be best buddies.

Hurray for Sweet Potatoes!

We are on a roll now. Both love sweet potatoes and oatmeal.
Now we move to two feedings a day with solid food.

Kate and Max had their sixth month well-baby visit today. Kate is now 15.1 lbs.(64.5cm) and Max is 16lbs.(68cm) Max has a tooth bud and Kate is working on her second tooth. Max rolls across the room and under his crib. Kate is pulling her knees up under herself - gearing up for some crawling action I suspect. They are able to sit for a few seconds before tipping over.

Both are enjoying the exersaucer and jump-n-go.

Food Update

Feeding/eating solid food is such a massive part of our day. It takes about an hour start to finish to make, feed, store and clean-up. I am sure most of this is my fault as I try to be as methodical as possible. I have created more messes myself than Kate of Max, but we are having a lot of fun trying to figure it out. Thankfully both enjoy being in their highchair and are patient with me and each other! We have shared a lot of giggles, avocados in our hair and on the wall (my fault), and sticky body parts to wash!

So far we have tried rice cereal, bananas, avocados, and oatmeal. Max seems to like anything we offer him. Kate is not a huge fan of bananas and her face broke out after avocados so we had to take a break. On the third day of oatmeal, Kate decided she LOVES LOVES LOVES it and I could not get it to her mouth fast enough. It is such a thrill when we find something they like!

Half Birthday

Max and Kate celebrated their half birthday Thursday.

I really call this week, Max's week because he did a few firsts. He decided it was time to learn how to move out of Kate's way, he now moves easily from back-to-belly and belly-to-back. He discovered his toes, mommy's toes, and Kate's toes. He likes to show us "How big is Max", I am still trying to capture that one on video, but he did it for Mama Kranz on Skype which was pretty fun. He loves to eat. He pulls my hand to his mouth and opens. He likes rice cereal, but especially LOVES bananas. It seems he got over the being messy phase, because we head straight to the tub after every feeding. Bananas are sticky.

Kate always has to be one steps ahead of Max. So now I put her down and she tumbles across the room in about two minutes. She can work her way around furniture to get where she wants to go. She does not really enjoy the rice cereal or the bananas, but given the choice she goes for the rice. She will burst out into giggles for no reason obvious to anyone else. Kate will take everything Max picks up away from him.

They both like to be around each other a lot. I find them holding hands, cuddled together on the mat, giving kisses, and playing footsie. Neither seem to mind the jogger and the walks are getting longer. Both will spend hours in their highchair playing with tupperware lids. The other day, they managed to collapse their playgym over themselves. All I could see were little legs and all I could hear were giggles.

The Sippy Cup

After solid foods comes sippy cups. We are just learning how to use them, so the exploration process begins. When I give them the cups in their highchair they think it is a game to throw it on the floor and get me to pick it up. So far I seem to be quite a gopher!

First Meal of Solids

This weekend marks a huge milestone - solid foods! We started them with rice cereal Saturday. We made a huge mess, Max cried, Kate laughed, and Abigail took pictures. On day 2, Max did not cry but he holds his arms straight out the entire time he is being fed the cereal. My guess is he is trying not to get dirty.

Aunt Abigail Visits

We just had a wonderful week with Aunt Abigail. She was such a huge help and we had a lot of fun doing a few new things. Aunt Liz and Emma spent a little time at our house, we did a little shopping, went out to dinner, visited Daddy at work, hung out at Duke Gardens, took a road trip to Greensboro to see their cousin and visit some friends who just had a second baby, and spent a lot of time simply playing with Kate and Max! It was so great having Abigail around, they both seem to adore her and the attention she gave them at any given moment!
